Erma Jean Shafto, 68, of Pleasanton, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton with Pastor Dean Hanson officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Lutheran Church or the Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department. Erma Jean was born September 27, 1944 in Loup City, Nebraska to William and Darlene (Jensen) Vocke. She attended the District #38 grade school, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1962. Erma Jean married Delmer Shafto on May 12, 1963 in Ravenna. They lived in Pleasanton, where she was a homemaker and worked as a waitress. Erma Jean enjoyed gardening, garage sales, attending high school sporting events, and fishing with her husband and grandchildren. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton.
Surviving relatives include her husband Delmer of Pleasanton, daughter; Lori and her husband Jeff Anderson of Hastings, NE, son; Reese and his wife Cheryl Shafto of Pleasanton, NE, grandchildren Jolyn Anderson of Omaha, NE, Jacob Anderson of Lincoln, NE, Trey Shafto, and Tate Shafto, of Pleasanton, NE, brother; Bill and his wife Norma Vocke of Hazard, NE, sister; Judy and her husband Clarence Trumble of Aurora, NE., brothers-in-law; Jerry Shafto of Pleasanton, NE, Stan and his wife Marcia Kaps of Johnson Lake, NE, sister-in-law Maria Shafto of Kearney, NE., 8 nieces and nephews.
Erma Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
