Dorothy A. Plautz

April 10, 1930 - December 11, 2012

Dorothy A. Plautz, age 82, of Shelton died Tuesday afternoon, December 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelton with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be at the Lowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelton and one hour prior to services Friday morning at the Church. The family will greet friends at the church Thursday evening. Memorials are suggested to the family to designate later. Dorothy was born April 10, 1930 in Kenesaw, NE to Fred and Wilma (Jacobitz) Kuehn. She grew up in the Lowell area and graduated from Shelton High School. She married LaMoine C. Plautz on September 11, 1949 in Lowell at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Dorothy and LaMoine farmed south of Gibbon until retiring in the early 1990’s. LaMoine passed away on March 11, 2012.

Dorothy was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She enjoyed working in her flowers and gardening, always anxious for summer when she would spend hours outdoors. She was famous for her homemade rolls & coffee cakes. Dorothy most enjoyed the time she spent caring for her grandchildren, they created lots of memories that the grandkids will never forget. Her great grandchildren brightened her day and brought a smile to her face right up to her final moments.

She was involved in several organizations: Sunshine Club, Gibbon Garden Gals, Generations of Gibbon Gardeners and Birthday Club. Dorothy was also very involved in her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Lowell, the same church she was baptized, confirmed and married in. She was the organist for years as well as a member of LWML and Sunday School Teacher. She also enjoyed attending weekly bible studies, singing in the choir and taking flowers each and every Sunday.

Those left to cherish her memory include: sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Trudy Plautz, Kent and Vicki Plautz, all of Gibbon, Gale and Cindy Plautz of Shelton; a sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Virgil Roeder of Loveland, Colorado; brother, Don Kuehn of Kenesaw; grandchildren, Tara and Shawn Biltoft of Brainard, Cory and Sarah Plautz of Lincoln, Karmynn and Matt Andrews of Shelton, Alissa and Ryan Bush of Inavale, Stacey Plautz of Kearney, AJ Plautz of Gibbon, Laci and Mark Jurgens of Gibbon, Jennifer and Addie Plautz of Gibbon; great-grandchildren, Rylie and Austin Biltoft, Alivia and Bennett Plautz, Laurynn and Quynn Andrews, Boden Bush, Elena Plautz and Ila Jurgens.

She was preceded in death by LaMoine and her parents.
