Earl J. Howarth, 103, of Kearney, died December 14, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Rev. Michael Freitag officiating. Burial will follow at the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Earl was born on November 1, 1909 in Portland, Oregon to John and Nellie (Richards) Howarth. The family moved to Odessa, NE from Portland in 1911. Earl graduated from Kearney High School in 1927. He then attended Grand Island Business College in 1928 and 1929. He married Fern Case of Odessa, NE on June 28, 1931 at the United Brethern Church in Kearney. Earl and Fern moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1931 and resided there until 1990. He worked at the Minneapolis Honeywell for 25 years and retired from there are an Industrial Engineer in 1972. In the early years in Minneapolis he took courses from “Trade Schools” in welding, machine shop and blue print interpretation. He and Fern moved back to Kearney in 1990.
Earl is survived by his Brother and Sister -In-Law, Douglas Howarth and his wife Bernadine of Sacramento, CA; Nieces and Nephews
Earl was preceded in death by his Wife Fern in 2007; Brother, Donald Howarth; and Sister, Ila Kearney.
