Robert "Bob" L. Bennett
Robert “Bob” L. Bennett, 77, of Kearney, died Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. Memorial services will be Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney with Pastor Michelle Reed officiating. There will be no Visitation. Robert was born on April 20, 1935 in Kearney to Walter E. and Nancy (Purdy) Bennett. He graduated from Longfellow High School in 1953. He married Phyllis Carol Hilty on November 27, 1955 in Kearney. After high school he began a career with John Deere that would eventually last over 40 years. He also worked at Target for 12 years after his retirement from John Deere. Robert served his country as a member of the Army National Guard for 10 years. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Barber Shoppers for 27 years and a past member of the Kearney Elks Lodge #984 and the Kearney Eagles Lodge Aerie #2720. Bob enjoyed singing, fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed time spent with his family.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Phyllis Bennett of Kearney; Son, Craig Bennett of Omaha, NE; Daughters, Joy Mitchell and her husband Rod of Odessa, NE; Rhonda Hopkins and her husband Chris of Heartwell, NE; Brother, Roy Bennett of Bellevue, NE; 5 Grandchildren, Carey, Rebekah, Fawn, Jeremie and Taylor; 6 Great Grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his Parents and an infant son, Daniel.
