Jerry L. Jones, age 77, of Kearney died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Kearney Homestead.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Rev. Brian Klein will officiate. Burial with military rites provided by the Kearney American Legion Post #52, Kearney V.F.W. Post #759 and the Unites States Marine Corp Military Honor’s Team will be at the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation is planned Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and prior to services at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. He was born June 25, 1935 in Miller, NE to Morris and Beulah (Lindner) Jones. He grew up south of Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1953. He graduated from Kearney State Teachers College then entered the U.S. Marines where her served from 1957- 1959. After his service to his county he obtained his Masters Degree.

He taught Art at Minneapolis Central High School until retiring in 1988.

He moved to Kearney and on June 24, 1992 he married Mary Mohanna in Kearney. They have lived in Kearney since and were active with the V.F.W. Club and the Friendship Club.

Surviving relatives include his wife Mary of Kearney and stepsons; Brian Axmann of Kearney and Mark Axmann of Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Beryl and Gordon Jones.
