Margaret C. Lange
Margaret C. Lange, 91, of Kearney and formerly of Boston, MA died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her son’s home in Kearney, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Graveside services will be held at the Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, MA. Memorials are suggested to the Shepherd Hills Care Giver Retreat Center in Sharon Springs, NY. She was born October 1, 1921 in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada to Herbert and Nina (Filmore) Johnson. The family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Boston area.
Margaret met her future husband, John W. Lange, at the USO where she worked as a volunteer and he came as a soldier. They were married on September 6, 1947.
As a young woman, Margaret received Christ as her Saviour, which changed her life forever. Her husband later became an American Baptist pastor and Margaret faithfully served the church in many capacities.
Margaret is fondly remembered for her quick wit and excellent vocabulary skills. She loved to play Scrabble and Canasta and enjoyed visiting with people of all ages and backgrounds. She also enjoyed watching sports of any type, and was very pleased when girls were allowed the same athletic opportunities as the boys in the school systems.
Margaret loved her family and they love her.
