Shirley A. (Bolejack) Reed, age 77, of Kearney died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney with Pastor Gary Main officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 28th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation in Nebraska. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Shirley was born January 28, 1935 in Nemaha, Nebraska to Clinton and R. Blanche (Brown) Bolejack. She graduated from Nemaha High School in 1953. Shirley married Robert Reed on October 23, 1955 in Nemaha. She worked at the telephone company in Auburn until 1958 when they moved to Stapleton, Nebraska where she worked at the Bank of Stapleton. In 1978 the family moved to Arnold, Nebraska where she worked at Production Credit Services/ Farm Credit Services until she retired. As a lifetime member of the Weight Watchers organization, Shirley became a leader and opened a branch in Arnold. Shirley loved watching movies, especially the “scary ones”. She also had a love for baking, cooking, and most of all snuggling with her puppy Max. She loved her family more than words could ever express. She will truly be missed by all. Shirley was a member of the Nemaha Christian Church, the Methodist church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Shirley is survivied by her husband Robert “Bob” Reed of Kearney, son Mitchell and his wife Joan Reed of North Platte, NE, daughter Susan and her husband Ron Bielenberg of Kearney, NE, granddaughter Kristin and her husband Jeremy Hoerle of Ogallala, NE, grandsons; Juddson Reed and his significant other Stevie Swedberg of North Platte, NE, Robert and his wife Kelly Bielenberg of Lincoln, NE, James and his wife Patty Bielenberg of Houston, TX, Mark Bielenberg of Kearney, NE, great grandchildren; Madalynn and Gavin Hoerle of Ogallala, NE, Samuel and Sarah Bielenberg of Lincoln, NE, Rachel, Andrew, and Erin Bielenberg of Houston, TX, brother Robert Bolejack of Louisville, KY, sisters; Delores West of Nebraska City, NE, Janice Bolejack of Nebraska City, NE, and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Ryan Reed.
