Marian E. Wisch, age 93, of Kearney died Thursday morning, February 14, 2013 at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney.

A celebration of Marian’s life will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate and burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney or to the Buffalo County Historical Society building fund. She was born May 3, 1919 in Lodi, Nebraska in Custer County to Ila Raymond and May Elizabeth (Nichols) Mougey. On June 4, 1939 she married Glen Wisch in Kearney.

Marian was the next to the youngest of six children and was raised on the Mougey homestead located at Lodi (between Callaway and Oconto). Living with her grandparents in Kearney she attended Kearney High School her freshman through junior years. Her senior year she moved to Page, Nebraska to help her aunt and uncle run a drug store. She graduated from Page High School in 1937. She then attended on year at the Normal School in Kearney.

Marian and Glen were married for 61 years and lived all those years in Kearney. Marian was a volunteer with several organizations including Camp Fire girls, Cub Scouts, 4-H, PTA and a volunteer at Trails and Rails Museum where she was a life member. She was a 74 year member of Faith United Methodist Church and served in many areas of the church including Sunday school teacher and United Methodist Women. For many years she was the bookkeeper for her husband’s construction business.

She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed oil painting. She loved gardening and always had a beautiful flower garden. She especially liked having her grandchildren visit.

Survivors include her children: Sharon (Gary) Mason of Kearney; Roger (Vicki) Wisch of Richmond Hill, Georgia; David (Charlotte) Wisch and Cynthia (Larry) Marrow of Lincoln. Eight grandchildren: Carrie Fairbairn, Laurie Schramm, Julie Mason, and Matt Wisch all of Omaha; Emily Wisch and Eric and Mackenzie Marrow of Lincoln; and Rebecca Amodeo of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and seven great grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers and two sisters.
