Patricia “Pattie” M. Sorensen, of Kearney, age 81, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at her home.  Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Jonathan Sorensen, and Fr. Mike McDonald officiating.  Private family burial will be held at a later date.  A wake service will be Monday, December 26, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic.  Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the wake service at the church and Tuesday prior to the Mass at Prince of Peace.  Memorials are suggested to the Prince of Peace Catholic Church Window Memorial Fund.  A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com.  Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

 Pattie was born July 25, 1930 on the family farm North of Kearney to John and Eva (Altmaier) Hein.  She graduated from Kearney High School in 1947.  Pattie married Robert “Bob” Sorensen on November 15, 1949 in Kearney.  To this union 6 children were born.  The couple lived in Kearney and established Sorensen Construction in 1955.  She retired in 1992.  Pattie and Bob were involved in Kearney Catholic School in the early years and were instrumental in the development of the Foundation.  There has been a Sorensen child or grandchild in Kearney Catholic since 1965.  Pat served on the St. James Parish Council and was a past president.

 Pattie’s family and her grandchildren were very important to her.  Her home was always a gathering place for her children and grandchildren.  Her faith played an important role in her life when raising her family.  She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Arizona.

 She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Altar Society, Kearney American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society.

Pattie was preceded in death by her Husband Bob in 2008 and Son Rick in 2011.
