Lucille R. Ignowski, 96, of Kearney, formerly of Loup City, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City, NE. Father Martin Egging will officiate and burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Ashton, NE. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Father Josh Brown officiating. Memorials are suggested to Mother Hull Home or the Sherman County Foundation. She was born June 5, 1915, in Bentley, Iowa, to William and Clara (Grabowski) Knutzen. She graduated from Ashton High School in 1933.
On June 13, 1944, she married Chris Ignowski in Ashton.
After high school, she worked in the Ashton Post Office and was a reporter for the Ashton Herald.
She and Chris lived their married life in Loup City. For more than 25 years, she was the kitchen supervisor at Sacred Heart Hospital in Loup City.
She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City, was active in the church and was a member of the Altar Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking and time spent with friends and family.

2 great-grandchildren: Dylan Ignowski and Chloe Ignowski of Augusta, Kan.
Brother-in-law: Ralph Ignowski of Wichita, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Chris, in 1996 and 1 infant son; Joseph.
