Edwin “Mike” A. Bunn, of Kearney, Formerly of Amherst, age 92, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney.
Services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Burial will follow at Stanley Cemetery near Amherst with Military Honors provided by the Miller American Legion Post #351 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association - Great Plains Chapter. Mike was born on December 21, 1919 in Amherst, NE to Edwin A. and Hazel V. (Fellows) Bunn. He graduated from Amherst High School with the class of 1936. Mike served his country while serving in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in a number of areas including Texas, California, Kansas and Georgia. Eventually he was sent overseas to Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He worked as a mechanic and welder in the Amherst area after the war. He married Lyla Dawn Hicks on February 14, 1946 in Phillipsburg, KS. He was a lifetime member of the Kearney V.F.W. Post # 759. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his nephews and niece.
