Archie M. Holoubeck Sr. November 16, 1918 - January 29, 2012
Archie M. Holoubeck Sr., 93, of Kearney died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation is planned Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney or prior to services Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. He was born November 16, 1918 to Adolph and May (More) Holoubeck at their farm north of Odessa. He attended school in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1937.
On November 16, 1939 he married Darlene McCampbell in Wahoo, NE. Archie lived on a farm west of Kearney that has been in the family for 130 years. He started farming right after High School with a team of horses and continued to farm, raise cattle, and hay until his brief illness and death.
His wife died in 1983 and he later married Rheva Eigenberg on March 8, 1986. She died in 2001.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney for over 60 years and served on several church committees. He also served on the Odessa Township Board and was a 4-H leader and a member of the Buffalo County Historical Society. He was awarded the Aksarben Pioneer Farm Family Award. He always had a gentle humor and was a pleasure to talk to.
