LeRoy E. Bunger, 76, of Kearney died Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kearney with Rev. Rodney Bieber officiating.  Visitation is planned Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney.  Burial with military rites will be at 2:30 p.m. at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. LeRoy was born February 16, 1936 in Franklin County, NE to Chris and Katie (Yelken) Bunger.  He grew up in Franklin County and graduated from Upland High School in 1955.  He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and served his country until 1960.  On December 13, 1968 he married Verdella (Stotz) Helm in Upland, NE.  LeRoy worked as a welder at several places in the area including New Holland and the Kearney Foundry.  He then went to work for Chief Industries in Grand Island and later Kearney until his retirement in 1998.  He also recently worked as a custodian at L & S Industries in Kearney.  LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and also music.
