LaMoine C. Plautz, 82, of Shelton, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelton with Pastor Thomas Mackey officiating. Burial will be at the Lowell Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. The family will greet friends Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Gibbon Rural Volunteer Fire Department. LaMoine was born August 2, 1929 in Ayr, Nebraska to Richard and Alma (Krueger) Plautz. He grew up south of Gibbon and graduated from Gibbon High School in 1946. He married Dorothy Kuehn on September 11, 1949 in Lowell at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. LaMoine and Dorothy farmed south of Gibbon until retiring in the early 1990’s. He was also a Pioneer Seed salesman for 29 years.
He enjoyed nothing more than going to coffee every day at 2:30 p.m. After diabetes took away his eyesight he still had loyal friends that would stop by and pick him up to ensure he didn’t miss out on the daily socializing. LaMoine was always ready for a Saturday auction or going to garage sales. He was always bringing home treasures to add to his collection. He enjoyed refurbishing old equipment, and his last project was reworking a DC Case Tractor.
He was a loving husband and devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was always happy to have family at the house no matter what the occasion was. His grandkids will remember spending summer days on the farm with grandpa. He always had their favorite little Debbie snacks and soda stocked up in the refrigerator.
He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowell where held many offices, Gibbon Rural Volunteer Fire Department, and had served on the Platte Township Board.
