Sharon K. Meyers
December 12, 1940 - March 24, 2012

Sharon K. Meyers, age 71, of Kearney died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.  Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate and burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church or to the family.  A message of condolence, tribute, or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com.   Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

 

Sharon was born on December 12, 1940 in Clayton, KS to Bert F. and Lela V. (Wonderlick) Higgins.  She attended Jennings Grade School through the 4th grade before transferring to Clayton public schools.  She graduated from Clayton High School in 1958 and then attended the McCook Beauty Academy.  She graduated in 1959 from beauty school and then worked as a hairdresser in Oberlin, KS for two years.  Sharon then moved to Kearney in 1961 and attended the Kearney Beauty Academy where she earned a license to instruct cosmetology.  She married Robert M. Meyers on June 10, 1962 in Clayton, KS.  The couple made their home in Kearney.  Sharon worked as a hairdresser for La Florence Beauty Shoppe for 20 years.  She was also a hairdresser for Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney for over 20 years.  She retired in 2003 due to health reasons.  Sharon was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney.  She was a member of the Methodist faith since 1952.  She enjoyed shopping, working in her flower gardens and sports; especially the Huskers.
